Marine Engine Bearing Supplier
Main bearings, crankpin and crosshead bearings, thrust pads and camshaft bearings for marine main and auxiliary engines — white metal and tri-metal, with material certificates.
Bearings are where a small mistake becomes an expensive one fastest. Shell thickness class, the bore and journal clearance you are working to, the overlay material and whether the shell is white metal or tri-metal all have to match what the engine was designed around. Fitting a shell of the wrong thickness class is a straightforward way to wipe a bearing on the first run-up.
We supply genuine OEM shells and class-approved equivalents in the correct thickness classes, and we ask for the journal measurements before quoting rather than after. Where a journal has been ground undersize, we source the matching oversize shell rather than pretending a standard set will do.
What We Supply
- Main bearing shells in all maker thickness classes
- Crankpin (big end) bearing shells, including undersize for reground journals
- Crosshead bearings and guide shoes for two-stroke engines
- Thrust bearing pads and thrust collars
- Camshaft and cam follower bearings
- Turbocharger journal and thrust bearings
- Bearing keep bolts, hydraulic nuts and locking devices
- White metal (babbitt) and tri-metal overlay options with material certificates
Warning Signs Before a Bearing Fails
- Bearing temperature rising above normal for the load, or an oil mist detector alarm
- White metal particles or overlay flakes found in the crankcase or the LO filter
- Increased crankshaft deflections outside the maker's tolerance
- Knocking from the crankcase, particularly on load change
- Wiping, scoring or fatigue cracking of the overlay found at open-up
- Journal scoring or ovality measured beyond limits
- Low lube oil pressure at the bearing, or a blocked oil hole found at inspection
Engine & Equipment Makes We Cover
Main & Crankpin Bearings supplied for the makes below, as genuine OEM and as class-approved equivalents — both quoted so you can decide against your survey date rather than guess.
What to Send Us for a Quote
Send the engine make and type designation, the bearing part number, and the measured journal diameter with the clearance you are working to. If the journal has been reground, tell us the undersize — it decides which shell we quote and there is no useful default.

Main & Crankpin Bearings — Common Questions
What superintendents and purchasing teams ask us most about marine engine bearings.
Do you supply undersize bearing shells for reground journals?
Yes. Tell us the actual measured journal diameter and the regrind undersize, and we source the matching shell. Quoting a standard shell against a reground journal is one of the more expensive mistakes in this trade, so we ask before we quote.
What is the difference between white metal and tri-metal bearings?
White metal (babbitt) shells have a tin-based lining that embeds debris well and is forgiving on marginal lubrication. Tri-metal shells add a steel back, a copper-lead or aluminium-tin intermediate layer and a thin running overlay, giving higher load capacity. Which one you need is set by the engine design, not by preference.
Which bearings do you supply for two-stroke engines?
Main bearings, crankpin bearings, crosshead bearings and guide shoes, thrust pads and collars, camshaft bearings, and turbocharger journal and thrust bearings.
How do I know which bearing thickness class to order?
The class is stamped on the existing shell and recorded in the engine's measurement history. Send us that marking along with the measured clearance — the thickness class is not something to estimate, and fitting the wrong one can wipe the bearing on the first run-up.
Do you supply bearings for turbochargers as well as engines?
Yes. Journal and thrust bearings for ABB/Accelleron, IHI, KBB, Mitsubishi, Napier and Holset turbochargers, alongside the engine bearing scope.
What certificates come with marine engine bearings?
Material certificates and certificates of conformity accepted by ABS, DNV, LR, BV, RINA, NK, KR and CCS, supplied with the consignment.
